This page is for those who love Vintage Hairstyles.
If you're interested in 1940's and 1950's hairstyles I have mostly victory rolls for you here. I’ll add different some vintage waves and bouffant hairstyles to this page as I do them.
For the love of Victory Rolls!
Almost everyone who loves vintage hairstyles seems to want victory rolls in their hair!
One hairstyle here has three victory rolls going sideways at the front. I tonged all of the hair first, pinned the victory rolls up and brushed the rest of the hair into soft curls. This style is popular among vintage hairstyle lovers. A tip before tonging - section your hair off into the victory roll sections first, otherwise you'll end up teasing bits of hair that aren't supposed to be part of the victory rolls. Avoid this time consuming problem if you can.
Another half up, half down hairstyle has three victory rolls as well. This time all of the victory rolls face backwards. There is a beautiful coloured flower to compliment the hairstyle and yes, it is a real flower, not a fake one!
Another well liked hairstyle with a colourful flower has 2 victory rolls and a ponytail which has also been curled.
One of my lovely clients was going to a 1950's night and chose victory rolls. Her hair was a joint effort. While I did her hair her husband and son raced out to find a navy scarf to match her outfit. She looked fantastic with 2 victory rolls at the front, another at the nape of her neck and her scarf to top it off. Add that to a matching 1950's dress and you guessed it - compliments all night.
A different type of scarf was used in another hairstyle which has 2 victory rolls at the front. These types of scarves have hard edging and can be twisted and the ends made to sit up as you can see in the photos.
Another popular vintage hairstyle is a victory roll in the fringe, also known as "bumper bangs". One client here has it but over to one side.
It’s not all about Victory Rolls!
There's also a sample on a mannequin head of a Titanic hairstyle I did for a client who was going to a Titanic theme party.
I also have a hairstyle page specifically for beehive hairstyles and French roll hairstyles (otherwise known as French twists).
